Find out more, prepare to gain the benefits, and get involved by visiting www.practicalmoneyskills.com.

VISA Educator Challenge Mission:

1. Promote teacher creativity about personal finance topics in the classroom.

2. Promote and measure student financial literacy improvement.

3. Demonstrate online tools and encourage educators to use them.

Judging Criteria

Classes of grades 7-12 will be judged on the following criteria:

1. Student Financial Literacy Test Results. Each participating classroom will take the test measuring financial literacy. The first, or “baseline,” scores will measure student knowledge before the class focuses on financial topics. When the work has been completed, students will retake the same test. Judges will look at the improvement of scores between the first and second tests. (25%)

2. Creative Teaching Outline. Each participating educator must provide an outline of methods used to incorporate the materials on practicalmoneyskills.com while teaching financial literacy concepts. This may include a complete financial literacy unit or a single topic from the Practical Money Skills curriculum. Educators will be judged on their creativity in helping students understand and appreciate the importance of financial literacy. (25%)

3. Student Projects. Submit a one-page "Summary of Project" to which you may attach any pertinent project samples. Since the goal of the challenge is to increase student awareness of financial topics, one-fourth of each educator’s entry will be judged on the merits of changes in student understanding of financial literacy. You may use any format (classroom projects, student quotes, etc.), which exhibits improved skills and knowledge on behalf of the students in the class. Activities which are fun for the students are especially valuable. (25%)

4. Student Reaction to Curriculum. Limit student reaction to one page. Using whatever form you deem appropriate, include student reaction to this program and the curriculum used. (25%)
